Wild weekend

My weekend started with FOR night at the Owasso/Jenks High School game.... Zach and Ashleigh got to participate ... they are always excited when they get to be on the HS field. I went to the game with a lot of optimism that Owasso was going to win this one and had to leave with only 3 minutes left in the game. 1. Because I couldn't handle the torture any longer and 2. to beat the traffic.... Owasso lost to Jenks AGAIN 14 - 6.
Saturday started out with getting ready for Ashleigh to cheer and Allie to play soccer in the morning and Zachary to play football in the afternoon. While getting everyone ready, I couldn't find Allie's shin guards and realized they were with Troy at work in his car, in Tulsa. So, after I dropped Ashleigh off to cheer at her 10AM game and left Zach to be there for her, Allie and I rushed to Wal-Mart to buy her new shin guards before her game at 11AM ... I finally got Allie to her game in all her gear, just in time to pick up Ashleigh from her game. After picking up Zach and Ashleigh, we rushed back to see Allie's last period of her game. So, I basically spent my time driving back and forth and didn't get to see any of Ashleigh's cheering and only a few minutes of Allie's game. :(
After the girl's games, we went to eat lunch with my friend Cheri and her kids. Everything was going well until Zach went into the parking lot and tripped. He fell and stopped his fall with his left arm ... and skidded down to his elbow and left hip. I was still in the restaurant, so he came in to tell me what had happened and like every good mother of a little boy told him to go into the bathroom and just wash it off and that he would be okay... and he was until we got about half way home and that is when the pain started.... Zach couldn't straighten his left arm ... so off to urgent care we went .... thankfully, our family friend, Jeff, examined him and had them run an xray .... whenever Jeff asked him what happened, Zach told him the story and Jeff said "you need to come up with a better sounding story than that, like, you got hurt playing football or something"
The xray didn't show any break (thank goodness) but since it was hurting to straighten it, they treated it as a sprain (right below the elbow) and put him into a hard splint. Zach was a real trooper and when Jeff was finished getting him "fixed" up, Zach asked the question that had been on his mind since he had fallen an hour and 1/2 earlier ... he asked "I have a football game at 4:30 .... can I still play?" Of course, Jeff told him no ... so Zach left with a heavy heart. Poor little guy! As soon as we walked out of the office, he looked up at me and asked me what time it was, and I told him "4:15 ... you want to go to your game and cheer them on, don't you?" so ... off we went to see his team play. You could tell that he was disappointed that all he could do was stand on the sideline... he tried to help with the water, but it's hard to do that with his less dominant hand (did I mention he is left handed).
I am taking him to his doctor Monday morning so that his regular doc can check him out. We had a friend of mine call today and ask how his arm was doing and how he did it, and when I told her she told me to tell Zach that he's gonna have to come up with a better story than what really happened, one that will impress the girls. :)
He has gotten alot of attention since then, and when I told him that one of my friends called because she heard what happened, he said "Oh my gosh! How is everyone finding out!" Guess word travels fast.... :)
I told him that he can take comfort that so many people are concerned about him ... and that the person who told my friend was one of the coaches when he was talking about team injuries ... my son and another player who actually got hurt during the game.
On a brighter note Zach's team won 19 - 0 and they are now 2-1.
I haven't been feeling good the last few days .... think I have some kind of virus or something.

Sports Friday & Saturday .... yeehaa!

We went to the Owasso HS vs Muskogee game on Friday night ... it was a heartbreakingly close game that Owasso lost in the last 40 seconds by 1 point. It was a tough loss and an exciting game until the last 40 seconds.

Today (Saturday) was a busy sports day for us! First thing this morning, I woke up to rain .... not a good sign when the game that Ashleigh was cheering at was 9AM... thankfully, it was just down to a sprinkle or 2 by the time she had to cheer. Her cheer squad did well, but the team she cheered for lost. I think the girls didn't really care who won or lost, they just wanted to get some place dry :)

Zach's game was at 1PM at home against Miami. Our team fought hard against Miami and pulled out a win 13 - 0. It's a little too close for comfort when we are use to winning 35 - 0 (and counting, since they stop counting at 35 no matter how many points you score). I have heard that things get tougher in 5th grade due to kids dropping out, and making fewer teams. Our team stays pretty much the same every year only losing a few and then gaining about twice the number lost or more every year. Zach is getting more playing time this year and is doing well. He still has much to learn and still needs his confidence built. He plays wide receiver. We have been working on getting a passing game started this year but are still working on it. We have several wide receivers on the team. But I'll take the 13 - 0 win... a "W" is a "W"! We lost 12 - 0 a few weeks ago to TYAA Blue. So Z's team is 1 - 1 with 8 more games to go.

Allie is playing soccer this year and is playing for the "Ladybugs". Right now she is playing 3 on 3. My Allie usually couldn't run "if a bear was chasing her" and I am always giving her a hard time about walking instead of running when she had done the 5 & Under program during the spring. She ran the whole time and although she didn't score and goals, she kept up with the pack and even fought for and kicked the ball alot. Afterwards, I was telling her how proud of her I was and that I was proud why she ran the whole time and she said "you know why I ran? Cause you said that I couldn't run the whole time... so I wanted to prove you wrong!" Hey, if that's what it takes, so be it! And her having said that is further proof that she is definitly MY child and a "mini me" cause if you know me very well, you know that I am head strong and if someone tells me I can't do something, the more determined I am to do it... I don't know if they record wins and losses or not, but the Ladybugs won 7 (or 8) to 2....

Not a bad day, not a bad day at all! Oh, and Zach and Allie's games were under the blue sky. We all were so tired when we got home afterwards, our house was quiet... and for that feat to happen, we all must have been pretty tired cause my house is NEVER quiet.
