Football, Soccer Season winding down

The football and soccer season is winding down .... Ashleigh has one more regular season game to cheer for next Saturday and then the Mighty Mite tourney starts.... she'll be cheering quite a bit during the week or so tourney, as long as we have a MM team in the play offs, she'll be cheering....
Allie has a few more soccer games to play... Troy was at Allie's Soccer game while I was watching Ash cheer.... Troy said that Allie helped make a goal (she and a team mate kicked the ball at the same time) She is doing really well for Allie, cause she is usually pretty lazy but soccer has changed a little in that respect ... she can actually run!
Zach's team is now 7 -2 with one more game to go... they played in a game last night and won 7 - 6 against a team from Bixby. O Black scored on their first drive of the game and Bixby scored on their last possesion of the game ... instead of running it in for the extra point (which is just 1 point in youth football) they went for the field goal (which is 2 pts in youth football) they only missed it by a few inches ... whew ... and there was less than a minute to go when we got the ball. It was one of those games that keeps you on the edge of your seats ... it was an important game for both teams because it decided who would be in 3rd place in the division. INFC Tourney takes the top 3 from each division to play in the play offs. Hats off to Bixby 5th Grade Blue, they are a really good team.

Wild weekend

My weekend started with FOR night at the Owasso/Jenks High School game.... Zach and Ashleigh got to participate ... they are always excited when they get to be on the HS field. I went to the game with a lot of optimism that Owasso was going to win this one and had to leave with only 3 minutes left in the game. 1. Because I couldn't handle the torture any longer and 2. to beat the traffic.... Owasso lost to Jenks AGAIN 14 - 6.
Saturday started out with getting ready for Ashleigh to cheer and Allie to play soccer in the morning and Zachary to play football in the afternoon. While getting everyone ready, I couldn't find Allie's shin guards and realized they were with Troy at work in his car, in Tulsa. So, after I dropped Ashleigh off to cheer at her 10AM game and left Zach to be there for her, Allie and I rushed to Wal-Mart to buy her new shin guards before her game at 11AM ... I finally got Allie to her game in all her gear, just in time to pick up Ashleigh from her game. After picking up Zach and Ashleigh, we rushed back to see Allie's last period of her game. So, I basically spent my time driving back and forth and didn't get to see any of Ashleigh's cheering and only a few minutes of Allie's game. :(
After the girl's games, we went to eat lunch with my friend Cheri and her kids. Everything was going well until Zach went into the parking lot and tripped. He fell and stopped his fall with his left arm ... and skidded down to his elbow and left hip. I was still in the restaurant, so he came in to tell me what had happened and like every good mother of a little boy told him to go into the bathroom and just wash it off and that he would be okay... and he was until we got about half way home and that is when the pain started.... Zach couldn't straighten his left arm ... so off to urgent care we went .... thankfully, our family friend, Jeff, examined him and had them run an xray .... whenever Jeff asked him what happened, Zach told him the story and Jeff said "you need to come up with a better sounding story than that, like, you got hurt playing football or something"
The xray didn't show any break (thank goodness) but since it was hurting to straighten it, they treated it as a sprain (right below the elbow) and put him into a hard splint. Zach was a real trooper and when Jeff was finished getting him "fixed" up, Zach asked the question that had been on his mind since he had fallen an hour and 1/2 earlier ... he asked "I have a football game at 4:30 .... can I still play?" Of course, Jeff told him no ... so Zach left with a heavy heart. Poor little guy! As soon as we walked out of the office, he looked up at me and asked me what time it was, and I told him "4:15 ... you want to go to your game and cheer them on, don't you?" so ... off we went to see his team play. You could tell that he was disappointed that all he could do was stand on the sideline... he tried to help with the water, but it's hard to do that with his less dominant hand (did I mention he is left handed).
I am taking him to his doctor Monday morning so that his regular doc can check him out. We had a friend of mine call today and ask how his arm was doing and how he did it, and when I told her she told me to tell Zach that he's gonna have to come up with a better story than what really happened, one that will impress the girls. :)
He has gotten alot of attention since then, and when I told him that one of my friends called because she heard what happened, he said "Oh my gosh! How is everyone finding out!" Guess word travels fast.... :)
I told him that he can take comfort that so many people are concerned about him ... and that the person who told my friend was one of the coaches when he was talking about team injuries ... my son and another player who actually got hurt during the game.
On a brighter note Zach's team won 19 - 0 and they are now 2-1.
I haven't been feeling good the last few days .... think I have some kind of virus or something.

Sports Friday & Saturday .... yeehaa!

We went to the Owasso HS vs Muskogee game on Friday night ... it was a heartbreakingly close game that Owasso lost in the last 40 seconds by 1 point. It was a tough loss and an exciting game until the last 40 seconds.

Today (Saturday) was a busy sports day for us! First thing this morning, I woke up to rain .... not a good sign when the game that Ashleigh was cheering at was 9AM... thankfully, it was just down to a sprinkle or 2 by the time she had to cheer. Her cheer squad did well, but the team she cheered for lost. I think the girls didn't really care who won or lost, they just wanted to get some place dry :)

Zach's game was at 1PM at home against Miami. Our team fought hard against Miami and pulled out a win 13 - 0. It's a little too close for comfort when we are use to winning 35 - 0 (and counting, since they stop counting at 35 no matter how many points you score). I have heard that things get tougher in 5th grade due to kids dropping out, and making fewer teams. Our team stays pretty much the same every year only losing a few and then gaining about twice the number lost or more every year. Zach is getting more playing time this year and is doing well. He still has much to learn and still needs his confidence built. He plays wide receiver. We have been working on getting a passing game started this year but are still working on it. We have several wide receivers on the team. But I'll take the 13 - 0 win... a "W" is a "W"! We lost 12 - 0 a few weeks ago to TYAA Blue. So Z's team is 1 - 1 with 8 more games to go.

Allie is playing soccer this year and is playing for the "Ladybugs". Right now she is playing 3 on 3. My Allie usually couldn't run "if a bear was chasing her" and I am always giving her a hard time about walking instead of running when she had done the 5 & Under program during the spring. She ran the whole time and although she didn't score and goals, she kept up with the pack and even fought for and kicked the ball alot. Afterwards, I was telling her how proud of her I was and that I was proud why she ran the whole time and she said "you know why I ran? Cause you said that I couldn't run the whole time... so I wanted to prove you wrong!" Hey, if that's what it takes, so be it! And her having said that is further proof that she is definitly MY child and a "mini me" cause if you know me very well, you know that I am head strong and if someone tells me I can't do something, the more determined I am to do it... I don't know if they record wins and losses or not, but the Ladybugs won 7 (or 8) to 2....

Not a bad day, not a bad day at all! Oh, and Zach and Allie's games were under the blue sky. We all were so tired when we got home afterwards, our house was quiet... and for that feat to happen, we all must have been pretty tired cause my house is NEVER quiet.

Football season is finally here!

Ashleigh's game was first up today... if I do say so myself, she makes one cutie patootie cheerleader! She did a great job cheering on the Rams today. I will have pics of it later, even tho she told me that I was not allowed to take pictures :)
Zach's team played their toughest game of the regular season right out of the starting gate. They hung in there until about the 4th Quarter... our QB threw and interception and they ran it in for a TD ... we kept them from making and extra point and then they scored again before the end of the game... TYAA Blue won, 12 - 0. Our boys did a good job and we couldn't be more proud... TYAA was a good host at BTW HS field.
There isn't another game until after Labor Day. It's a good thing, cause we have some boys nursing some injuries.

Regular Season Over

I haven't posted much about football this year. Mainly because when you win most of your games 35 - 0 over and over, like last year, there really isn't anything to post..... We only lost 1 in the regular season.
Tonight we played in the 1st round of the play offs. The boys played hard, but lost 19 - 0.
We have the Sooner Classic coming up in a few weeks. Here's a link if you want to check it out.... SOONER CLASSIC
The coach is giving the boys a week off of practice then, it's back to the grid iron for practice.

TBall and Baseball

The girls finally played a game Monday night after 2 weeks of no practices or games. They did pretty well. Ashleigh got to play catcher the first inning. She has such skinny legs that the shin guards kept on spinning around to the back of her leg. She likes doing it tho'. Allie was her happy self. After fielding, the rest of the team came into the dugout to bat, and there was Allie in "lala" land still on the field playing in the dirt. :)
Zach's team has played 2 games this week with 2 more to go.... all the rain has doubled up their schedule. They lost he one on Monday night..... but the won the one last night 15-14. They barely pulled out the win, but they pulled together and did it.... it was an 8PM game, so it was nearly 10 when it was over. The parents were tired, and the boys were pumped up from winning.... I was afraid that Zach would have trouble going to sleep, but the rush wore off by the time we got home (we can see the stadium lights from our house, so we're not that far away).

Baseball! TBall! Rain! OH MY!

The girls finally are getting to play their game tonight, I think, if the rain holds off. (They also get their jersey's tonight, they are more excited about that then they are about playing the game)
It's getting to the point that I don't know which is a reguraly scheduled game and which is a make up game! Zach's team have several to make up, too. This week he plays, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday nights with practice tonight. It is supposed to rain Tues, Wed and Thurs.
I am trying to not complain about the rain, too much, 'cause in July, we'll all be saying "It's soooo HOT! I wish it would rain" :)

Happy dance!

Yep! I'm doing the happy dance! School is back in session tomorrow! If it wasn't going to be, I was going to offer my assistance to get the roads cleared. I am sure there are lots of parents who would've joined me, too! :)

A reminder of why I hate math! :)

My son Zachary, who is in the 3rd grade, started learning his times tables last week. They started with the 11s and 10s and are now on the 9s and 8s. As I am helping him study his flash cards, I remember how much I HATE math. Always have and I always will :) I didn't have trouble with my math facts.... just had trouble understanding that, in life , why does it really matter what the "value of 'x' is" ... my math teachers could never answer that question without the look of anger in their eyes, and never gave me an answer that suited me, so since, in life, it doesn't matter what the value of "x" is, I don't have to learn it. :) (Most teachers thought that I was trying to be a smart aleck when I asked that question.... but I really wanted to know)

Because of my struggles with math, I am being really hard on my son when it comes to math. When I was a kid, I hated math so much, that I neglected to learn some early math principles and then, had trouble when it came to algebra. So, I am forcing him to KNOW how to do math, whether he likes it or not. I told him that he doesn't have to like it, just know it. I don't want him to have the same struggles with it that I had. Who knows, while I am drilling and pounding these facts in his head, maybe I might learn something as well :)

I might even finally find out the answer to my question. Maybe Zach's teacher's will know ;)

WOOOOOHOOOOO!

WE WON! We are going to the Championships! Our boys have worked soooo hard this year and still remain undefeated! We won the game 19-13.
We were down 13-12 with less than a minute left .... and we tried a reverse fake and it worked! TOUCHDOWN RAMS! The TD was made with about 20 seconds left in the game.... Sapulpa had possesion with just a little left in the game and went for a long pass, but one of our boys intercepted it! It was AWESOME! (I wasn't aware that I could hold my breath for so long!)
We play Tulsa Boys Club on Saturday the 11th around mid-day at the Broken Arrow HS field. For those of you who can, please come out and support us! And for you guys who are local, and can't make it for the game, it is on Cox Cable - Channel 3. I will post the exact game time as soon as I know!

TONIGHTS GAME!

I found out late yesterday afternoon, that the game time for tonights game has changed. It is now @ 8PM - at Sapulpa HS.

GO RAMS!

We are in the semi-finals! We beat Jenks 7-0 @ Jenks tonight! We play Sapulpa in Sapulpa possibly on Tuesday night! One more game and we're in the finals!
The boys hung tough and basically shut down their offense.... Jenks defense was very good as well, we just happen to get a break away touchdown.
Zach played very well and made several good tackles.... I'm one proud mama!

I was freezing at practice too, but you know me, I won't be able to sit still at the game, so I might not notice the cold too much either.

Ashleigh's last game

Ashleigh's last game to cheer at was Tuesday night. She has made lots of improvements since her first practice several months ago! She said she wants to cheer next year, but wants to cheer for tackle football next year instead of flag. That is fine with me. I couldn't get into those flag football games!
One comment she did make after she was done was soooo sweet. She said "now that cheerleading is over, I won't have to miss any more of bubby's games!" She loves going to her brothers game and cheering him on!
I love cheering on all of my kiddos!

INFC Playoff time

Well, INFC Playoffs are almost here! Zach's team is 7-0 with 2 more games left to go.... we are definitly in the playoffs, just don't know what seed we will be. We are 1st in our division right now, and to stay in first, we have to beat Sand Springs this weekend, who are also 7-0. It will be an awesome game.
We also have to beat Collinsville on the 28th to keep our place at the top of the division.
Playoffs start Oct 30th or 31st and the finals are on Nov. 11th!
Go Owasso 3rd Grade Black!
