OK ... now on to another topic ... the government ...
That's another thing that has been bothering me right now ... especially since to presidential race is in full swing.
First of all, President Bush's approval rating is down ... and I think that some people out there who are saying it's all president Bush's fault are not looking at the big picture... yes, he is the President ... but do you REALLY think he single handedly runs this country ... and that it is all his fault. If so, I think that you need to take Government 101 and learn how our government works....
Second of all .... I would really like to know exactly what Obama or McCain can do for this country... basically, the Republican's and the Democrat's spend so much time fighting against each other and always talking about what they haven't done or bashing the other parties that they have lost sight to what really matter... what can they do for the USA? Instead they are all acting like a bunch of elementary kids saying "But, the Repulicans did this" and the Republican's counter with "No we didn't ... blah blah blah ... the Democrat's did that" ... oh come on .... both parties are working so hard to be against each other and trying to figure out how to "one up" the other, that they have lost sight of the important things! They need to quit acting like children and figure out what they can do to better the USA and work together for the good of this country!
Thirdly, I wouldn't want President Bush's job if it were given to me! NO WAY! NO HOW!
I couldn't do what he does ... I couldn't listen to the bickering and the fighting and the name calling and try to get anything done while they are fighting against each other. I wouldn't want to make the decisions he makes, to go the places he goes, talk to the other leader's of the world... etc... Someone needs to step up that can put on a referee's jersey and a whistle and yell "TIME OUT!"
Lastly, it says in the Bible that we should pray for our leaders... it does not have an ammendment that says "you don't have to pray for them if you don't like them or don't agree with them" by the way... it's a clear command.... I pray for all of our presidents that they God protects them, that they make the right decisions for our country etc.... I pray whether I like them or not.
I have always said, If you don't like how things are run, get in there and try to do something about it ... run for city council, mayor, govenor, president.... PRAY FOR OUR GOVERNMENT! If you aren't willing to help the situation by getting yourself involved, and all you can do is complain and criticize the government, then sit down and shut up.

Up on my soapbox ... the war in Iraq
I haven't gotten "up on my soap box" in a while .... and I have some things on my mind that I need to get out!
I was just listening to my new Steven Curtis Chapman CD "This Moment: Cinderella Addition" and I came to one of the bonus tracks that got me to thinkin' ... the song is called "What I'm fighting For" .... Here are some of the lyrics...
"I watch another sun fall on the desert sand
And Slowly I can feel the ache returning to my heart
I heard somebody say today we lost a man
And everybody's got their own opinion
On whether it's a good or bad thing we're doing over here.
But there's a little girl in Georgia lying in her bed tonight
While her mother holds her close and whispers, 'It's gonna be alright'
And they'll preaay themselves to sleep
And dream about the day when I'll come
Walking back through the door
'Cause that's what I'm fighting for
We passed another playground on the road today
A little group of girls looked up and waved at us and smiled
I think it's in their eyes I see the biggest change
Still everybody's got their own opinion
I can see the good and bad but when I close my eyes ....
But there's a little girl in Georgia lying in her bed tonight
While her mother holds her close and whispers, 'It's gonna be alright'
And they'll preaay themselves to sleep
And dream about the day when I'll come
Walking back through the door
'Cause that's what I'm fighting for
I know everybody's got their own opinion
I'm just here to do my job and I can't wait to get home
to that little girl in Georgia lying in her bed tonight
While her mother holds her close and whispers, 'It's gonna be alright'
And they'll preaay themselves to sleep
And dream about the day when I'll go
running back through the door
Back to what I'm fighting for
This is what I'm fighting for"
First of all, let me tell you, as I was listening to the song and mopping my kitchen floor, I was standing there with tears streaming....
There is a friend of ours, whose name is Matt Hash, that we met through the Army that has a wife, 3 boys and a little girl that is on his 3rd tour in Iraq. They are now stationed in Georgia, so that song could have easily been written by Matt.
He is proud to serve in the military and he is proud of what he is seeing in Iraq. He wants to be there to not only help the Iraqi people, but also, to keep us safe here at home.... I am sorry, but if you are pitching a big fit about this war and NOT praying for our soldiers and for peace in Iraq, and are putting down our government and NOT supporting our troops... you should be ashamed of yourselves! First of all, whether or not there were WMD's there or not, the fact is, is that there are terrorists out there who would love a chance to get into the USA again and do the fighting over here. If we didn't go to where they are, they would be here. Do you realize that? The war would be in OUR own back yards ... not over seas! When you gripe about how wrong the war is and all the Cindy Sheehan's of the world go out there and criticize this war, you might as well be stabbing the soldiers straight into their hearts... by the way, the soldiers who are fighting to keep our butts safe can hear the criticism .... it hurts them right to the core! AND their families can hear you, too. They need to hear that we are supporting THEM and praying for them.... now, you may not be a supporter of the war in Iraq.... even I don't like the fact that it is still going on.... but rather than criticizing our government, you should pray for our troops and support them until their safe return home. STOP bashing them and start supporting them.... believe me .... they want to come home .... but they won't until their job is done... let them hear your support... uplift their spirits .... do something positive for them .... and as the saying goes ... if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all!

Sad day
After a hard fought fight, Ator field will be no more. Read about it here.
Ator field is a well known landmark in Owasso and will be missed. I don't know this man who decided to take the promised land away from the Owasso Public schools personally, but I do know one thing, I don't have a very high opinion of him. I don't think anyone here in Owasso does. I don't understand how someone can be so heartless!

Starting to not feel sorry for them anymore!
(stepping up on soap box)
Okay. In my last post, I stated that OU was cheated at the Oregon game and that I felt sorry for them. We ALL know that they were cheated... and now, the officials who made the bad calls are being punished, which is the right thing to do. They should be punished for it, cause it totally changed the outcome of the game.
But, I am starting to lose my sympathy for OU cause they won't let it go....
It was just a game and an NON CONFERENCE one at that. I don't think it sends a good message to our youth to keep whining about it... yes, I know that Oregon was a ranked team and yes I know that it knocked OU down the polls a bit... but they are STILL in the top 25!
We know that OU was cheated, we know that it was because bad calls, but now OU needs to quit dwelling on the Oregon game and show the world that they can rise above it.
I, as an OSU fan, am accustomed to losing and moving on, OU fans, if you need any lessons on "how to accept a loss" I am sure that I can start teaching classes on it. An REAL fan is a fan NO MATTER WHAT the outcome of the game.
(now I will climb down from my soap box.... OU, please don't give me reason to climb back up on it!)

OU was cheated
Yep.... you saw it here on my blog.... OU was cheated the other day when they played Oregon. As much as I hate to admit it, I actually felt sorry for OU the other day cause there was some really BAD calls made in that game and OU probably would've won if those bad calls weren't made. Now don't get me wrong, I usually don't mind when OU gets beat, (I usually enjoy it thoroughly, jump for joy, etc....) but I want them beat fair and square not by bad officiating!
(BTW, I still bleed ORANGE and BLACK!)
