My son Zach had a book character day at school. He is in 2nd grade. He chose to be "Luke Skywalker". Here is his costume. I made it myself. He said that he had the only "home-made" costume in the whole class. Unfortunatly, he couldn't take the light saber with him to school because it is considered a weapon, so, he took a flash light instead.

Costume looks good. I knew right away he was a Jedi. I'm surprised it was Luke and not Obiwan since the kids seem to like the newer movies better. (he has good taste)
I know what you mean about lightsabers being weapons. Last time I took one to work, it was a killing spree. Oh, wait, it's plastic.
